Ordinarily, when tagging content, a “section” of text, whether it’s a paragraph, list item, data in a table cell, etc., will all be placed in one tag. For example, when tagging a paragraph, simply highlight the text of that paragraph in the physical view and create a new P tag. Sometimes, however, it is desirable to highlight a number of items on the page and to place them all in their own tags. (We will revisit this concept when making lists, for example.)
The “Individual Parents” button, when used in conjunction with tag type buttons, will put all of the selected text runs in their own tag corresponding to the tag type selected. For example, when creating a list, it may be possible to highlight all of the bullets, turn on “Individual Parents” and then choose “Lbl” to place all of the bullets in their own label tags. Refer to the article titled "Using "Individual Parents" When Tagging a List" for more specific information.
