Changing Languages in Word & PowerPoint

Modified on Tue, 5 Nov, 2024 at 4:53 PM

Some documents will have specific pages, sections, or even single words in other languages. For example, an instructions manual for a computer could have sections written in Spanish, English, and German, all sharing the same information, or a menu at a restaurant could have a single word, such as fajita, in a page full of English words! This common occurrence is nothing to be scared of and with the proper knowledge of Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, you can easily set those words or sections to their given language and when the final PDF is generated, the content will be properly assigned in different languages.

To change the language of portions of a document, select the content in Word or PowerPoint. Navigate to the "Review" tab in the ribbon of either software, and select "Langauge" from the "Language" group.

This will open a "Language" dialog box where you will be able to select the needed language from the "Mark selected text as" list of options. Once selected, select the "OK" button, and that text will have been properly assigned!
