Moving and Resizing Panels in CommonLook PDF (Desktop and Advanced Editor)

Modified on Sat, 14 Jun, 2025 at 10:47 AM

Did you know you can resize the panels in CommonLook PDF, if you need to?

Is the Metadata panel too narrow to read?  Would you like to see more of the Table Editor at one time?

To Resize Panels:

  1. Navigate to the panel that you want to resize.

  2. Put your mouse to the side of the panel if you want to make it wider (or narrower).  Similarly, move your mouse to the top or bottom of the panel if you want to make it taller (or shorter).
Tip: When you’re in the right spot to be able to resize the panel, your mouse pointer will become resizing arrows.
Screenshot showing the mouse over the left edge of the Metadata panel. The pointer arrow has become a double arrow, implying that the window can be resized.

  3. Click and hold the mouse button.
  4. Drag the panel’s edge to the desired width (or height).
  5. Release the mouse button.

To Move Panels (Desktop version only):

Let’s say, for example, you want the Untagged Content panel to be open, next to the Tags panel.

To move the Untagged Content panel, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Untagged Content panel’s tab located at the bottom left of the CommonLook PDF user interface.
The Untagged Content tab is highlighted.
  2. Click and hold the mouse button down.
  3. Still holding the mouse button down, drag your mouse up on the screen.  A sort of plus sign will appear.
    The Plus sign is highlighted.
  4. Move the mouse over the right “arm” of the plus sign.
The right "arm" of the plus sign is highlighted.
  5. As you hold your mouse over the right “arm” of the plus sign, the panel will “float” over the position where it’ll end up.
The Untagged Content panel is "floating" over where it'll be placed (in the next step). While it's possible to read what panel it is, because it hasn't been placed yet, it appears somewhat hazy, like it's on a cloud.
  6. Release the mouse button to place the panel where you want it.
The Untagged Content panel has been placed and now, in CommonLook PDF, it appears immediately to the right of the Tags panel.

To Put Everything Back:

Use the Reset Panels Location button in the ribbon from the Settings tab.

CommonLook PDF is open, the Settings tab in the toolbar is highlighted as is the Reset Panels Location button in the ribbon on the Settings tab. (The Tags and Untagged Content panels appear next to each other on the left side of the user interface.)
