How to Fix Font Issues with Acrobat's Preflight Tool

When to use "Fix Font Issues" in Preflight

You can try to use the "Fix Font Issues" in the Preflight tool when the fonts in your document are unable to be properly encoded or there are Unicode mapping issues.  While these issues can be identified by running a standards check, the problem will need to be addressed in Acrobat or in the source document.

Directions to Fix Font Issues in Acrobat's Preflight Tool

  1. Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat
  2. In the "Tools" open Print Production
    • If it’s not already in the list of tools on the right side of Acrobat, from the Tools screen, choose “Add” to add it to the right side. (You can also reorder the tools on the right side so you don’t have to search so hard for it every time.)
